Ose:kenhionhata:tie

When I learned that the meaning of the Mohawk name for the Grand River was Willow River, I had flash backs of the great Willow trees along Laurel Creek I played under as a kid. It triggered a nostalgic response to the idea of connecting to the landscape I grew up in.

So I started the project with a Willow tree.

Her upper body is the Willow tree, her skirts make up the ground surrounded by tributaries leading into The Grand which runs by her feet.
