The Galt Post Office and Custom’s House was built in 1885. By the early 1900’s Emily was working there as a clerk.
Legend has it that she was involved in an ill fated love affair with the Post Master of the time. The Post Master was William Tumbull and he lived in the building, on the third floor, with his wife and children.
Emily and William’s love affair ended when Emily was found hanging dead from the Clock tower in 1919. Her death was never solved. Was it murder? Was it suicide? We will never know. William died a year later.
Emily is a soft sculpted cloth Art Doll. She stands 19″ tall. She is a stump doll with wired arms and fingers. Vintage cotton and lace were used in the making of her outfit.
