The white flower symbolizes rebirth, purity and spiritual enlightenment as it always returns after the rains. “Grand River Reflections”, is a serene moment in time; reflecting the sky as well as the unknown, beneath the water’s surface. The lily pads seem suspended between the two worlds.
My paintings have always evolved from my experiences in nature, specifically water’s transparencies and reaction to changing light and movement. Waterlilies have been a special interest subject and the Grand River watershed is a great way to observe them. The marshes and river inlets host an array of beautiful vegetation including a variety of waterlilies.
