The Conestogo River was named by early Mennonite Settlers. It is located in the Lake Erie Basin and joins The Grand River as a right tributary at the community of Conestogo, in Waterloo Region. A dam built on the river formed Conestogo Lake. A conservation area operated by the Grand River Conservation Authority is located on this lake. The Grand River basin provides water resources for Waterloo Region and should be protected for future generations to continue to enjoy.
